Completed in June of 1996, the Terminal Modernization project expanded Baggage Claim from one to two; Ticket Counters from six to twelve, and Loading Bridges from two to four. Enplaned passenger capacity is 478,000. The project was completed in five stages and expanded the airport to 122,244 sq.ft.

Other projects at FWIA include Airport Rescue & Firefighting Facility (Construction Administration Services); Burlington Air Express Renovation; Hangar 40 Renovation; Maintenance Pole Building; Various Structural Inspections and Engineering Studies; Snow Removal Equipment Building; Basement Dewatering ; Hangar 38, 39, & 40 Analysis, and Hangars 41, 42, & 43 Roof Studies.
