The expansion of the Grand Wayne Convention Center doubled the size of the existing facility. It involved the renovation of approximately 100,000 s.f. of the existing facility and construction of a new 124,000 s.f. facility on two levels located on the site directly west of the existing convention center. The major portion of this project included a new convention hall of approximately 50,000 s.f., and meeting rooms on a second level. Meeting space in the existing Grand Wayne Center was reconfigured as a part of the renovation work.
Notable features of this expansion and renovation are a wall of 30' tall windows that stretch over a city block; bold and contemporary new interior finishes; state-of-the-art lighting and A/V systems, and a 12,000 s.f. kitchen.
