At 11:00 AM today, Indiana University dedicated their new IUPUI residence hall- North Hall. This 172,000 square-foot facility is the first new traditional residence hall since the campus was formed in 1969. MSKTD is the Architect of Record for the 2-tower complex which houses 700 students in an urban setting.

While the primary function is providing students with single and double-occupancy room accommodations, today’s collegians expect much more. North Hall features many amenities including a grand lobby area with a kitchenette and break-room, micro-lounges spread throughout each floor, a computer room, fitness room, laundry facility, large programming area and two classrooms. Exterior spaces are nicely landscaped creating additional social and gathering spaces for students as well. This new residence hall is a huge success for Indiana University and the IUPUI Campus in downtown Indianapolis!

Grissom Hall at Purdue University was featured in June’s issue of the “Marketer” the journal of the society for marketing professional services. MSKTD provided architecture, structural engineering, and interior design services. To quote the “Marketer” – “The only way to separate your firm from your competition is to show the client you completely understand their needs and wants”.

A New Era for Grissom Hall

Purdue University President, Mitch Daniels speaks on a beautiful fall day during the dedication of the reinvented Grissom Hall. Also in attendance were Lieutenant Governor Sue Ellspermann, and many other Purdue alumn including three astronauts, all of whom spent many hours in Grissom Hall during their time at the university. Grissom Hall has been redesigned not only to accommodate greater numbers of students, faculty and staff, but also to enable the learning and working styles of today and the future.

Construction of New IUPUI Residence Hall Making Progress

North Hall is the first traditional residence hall on campus since IUPUI was founded in 1969.  The 173,000 square-foot 700-Bed residence hall is beginning to take shape.  The fast-tracked project went from concept to construction in less than 6 months and is scheduled for completion in July, 2016.  When finished this residence hall will have two residential wings, four and six stories, and feature a sleek, modern design complimentary of the campus and its downtown Indianapolis location.

While the primary function will be providing students single and double occupancy rooms, today’s collegians expect more.  North Hall will have amenities that include a grand lobby area and micro-lounges spread throughout each residential floor, as well as a computer lab, game room, fitness area, laundry facility, large programming area and two classrooms.

MSKTD is the Architect of Record and providing MEP engineering and interior design services.  Other project team members include KWK Architects, along with Messer Construction and Powers and Sons, as a joint-venture construction team.  Stay tuned for additional updates on this exciting project on the IUPUI Campus.
