A Special Day for Downtown Fort Wayne

The Ash Corporate headquarters was dedicated at 1:00 PM on June 1, 2016! The 95,000 square-foot facility is part of the new $70 million Ash Skyline Plaza. Just before Memorial Day, Ash Brokerage moved over 200 personnel into the new campus and has the capacity to expand to almost twice that size. This signature mixed-use development is transforming downtown Fort Wayne: Truly making Fort Wayne Greater!

The first floor of the complex houses 21,000 square feet of retail space, drawing people in from the city streets. These spaces, also designed by MSKTD, include tenants such as a Lake City Bank, an executive-style fitness facility operated by the YMCA, “The Golden” restaurant, and “The Find” gift shop, among others.

Blue skies and sunshine were plentiful on Saturday for opening day at the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo and the debut of the final phase of the Australian Adventure renovations. Visitors enjoyed Stingray Bay (which opened late last season); the new Outback Springs; a new reptile house, aviary & bird exhibits, and an updated log ride – the Crocodile Creek Adventure Ride. Another wonderful enhancement to Fort Wayne’s No. 1 attraction – our thanks to Jim Anderson & staff for their vision and to Bassett Associates and Hagerman for being great design and construction partners.

Symbiosis? Coincidence?

Blog_PlaneI’m sure there’s a better word… The moving of the F-84F jet to the new Veteran’s Plaza for MSKTD longtime client the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum is one of the many improvement projects currently underway at this historic facility. The plane will be placed in a refurbished Veteran’s plaza at the far north end of the building just outside Memorial Hall. It will appear to be taking off toward the corner of Parnell and Coliseum where more than 50,000 vehicle pass each day. Coincidentally, Kenneth Fritz, a member of the team involved in originally mounting the jet and now moving it to its new home, is the father of MSKTD’s own Tyrone Fritz.

Fresh take on world down under

The puffer fish are here. The sharks will be coming in July and the stingrays will make their appearance in August. That’s the news from the zookeepers at the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo, where MSKTD & Associates designed the ongoing $7 million renovation. Today, the coral reef exhibit officially opens.
